The early use of echocardiography in acute myocardial infarction allows for the prospective and reliable identification of patients at risk of infarct expansion. Echocardiography, when used with the methodology described, identifies complications of acute myocardial infarction and the need for additional procedures to prevent or minimize the complications arising from it.
