Although early repolarization is a common benign finding, it is sometimes associated with idiopathic ventricular fibrillation, making it necessary to distinguish between the two possibilities. The J wave can be a sign, a syndrome, or associated with idiopathic ventricular fibrillation, and its dynamics and overlap complicate diagnosis.
