Abstract

Ventricular thrombi have a high incidence complicating evolution of acute myocardial infarction especially on anterior and apical localization. This incidence is higher where necropsy studies are performed. We present a fifty year old, male patient, admitted to coronary care unit, with evolved anterior wall myocardial infarction and a great thrombus with high risk embolism characteristic, diagnosed by two dimensional echo cardiography. Treatment with heparin infusion and oral anticoagulants was started, resulting in decrease and disappearance after a brief period. We include a review as well as ventricular thrombi characteristics and efficacy of usual treatment.
