Stress echocardiography is a diagnostic tool whose goal is to detect ischemia expressed asa wall motion abnormality. Its increasing daily use has lead it to share the diagnostic field with radionuclides studies. However, both techniques have differencies that are not well clarified yet. Comparative studies have demonstrated a similar diagnostic accuracy for the majority of the population, with differences for certain limited subgroups in whom one of them can offer greater benefits. Both methods are at present valid and effective diagnostic alternatives, but smaller costs, immediate availability of the data, absence of radioactive materia use and aggregate information, favour stress echocardiography.
