Abstract

Heparin and related drugs were considered as part of the treatment of stroke and the prevention of recurrencies. Indications, risks and benefits, optimal beginning time and maintenance, and additional benefits derived from the reduction of venous thrombosis were rewied. Several on-going studies aimed to solve some unanswered questions were analized.
