Total Homograft Replacement of the Mitral Valve

We report the case of a 35 years old female, seen a tour institution, diagnosed with severe mitral in-sufficiency of rheumatic origin. Her clinical condition exhibited a progressive impairment over the past 6 months with shortness of breath and fatigue of functional class IV. Because there was an absolute contraindication to oral anticoagulation and there was a mitral valve suitable for a repair, were place it with a total crio preserved mitral valve homograft, supported with a semirigid annuloplasty ring. She tolerated the procedure well and had an uneventful postoperative course. This report describes the clinical and surgical aspects associated with this case.
